Groningen Declaration Network

HSBI has been a member of the Groningen Declaration Network (GDN) since April 2020. The GDN is an association of universities, ministries, digital service providers and science and education organisations in 29 countries worldwide. The main objective of the network is to create a global student data ecosystem to reduce barriers to mobility in studies and working life.

Promoting internationalisation is one of the most important strategic goals of HSBI. However, international mobility always has administrative obstacles, because it requires the transfer of study and personal data, the authentication of which is often a problem. As a member of the GDN, HSBI contributes to students being able to share authenticated study documents, when, where and with whom they want, while their data ownership and personal rights remain protected at all times.

Being a member in the GDN, HSBI commits to the statutes, goals, regulations, the Code of Conduct and the ethical principles of the GDN as well as to participating in working groups and committees. It actively pursues the goal of simplifying international mobility by providing solutions for the transfer of study data in and beyond studies. As part of the project Digital Mobil @ FH Bielefeld, which was funded by the DAAD and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, HSBI implemented EMREX in the new Campus Management System to facilitate secure data exchange.
