Innovation is the only way EU can maintain a strong, sustainable and competitive economy. However, at present there are large imbalances between degrees of innovation of EU countries. One solution to mitigate this drawback is the development of collaborative networks. Here digital technologies like IoT or AI play an important role. Digital transition should be green to ensure environmental sustainability while also contributing to economic and social well-being. However, sometimes, Digitalization and Green are contradictory concepts. This lecture emphasizes the importance of digitalization for Society 5.0 but also highlights the need for Green IT solutions taking into account big societal challenges like energy consumption.
