Psychological Foundations of Early Development and Education: Borough of Manhattan Community College Early Childhood Center Teacher Presentation

HSBI Adjunct Instructor Tracy L. Gray will present the psychological and psychosocial foundations of early childhood and relate these foundations to educational practice with young children, from birth to eight years. Borough of Manhattan Community College Early Childhood Center teachers, under the leadership of Executive Director Dr. Cecilia Scott-Croff, will share 1) their best practices in their early childhood classrooms as a microcosm of a learning community. 2) ‘learning through play’, the emergent curriculum 3) the early childhood methodology utilized to foster learning in children.

Tracy L. Gray is a champion of 21st-century learning worldwide who has impacted diverse educational landscapes from Connecticut to China. Beginning as a classroom teacher, Ms. Gray has held pivotal roles at Ethical Culture Fieldston School and The Carey School, focusing on curriculum development and student life. In 2013, she established the Sankofa Global Project, recognized by President Obama’s White House for its STEM education initiatives. Holding dual Master of Science Degrees, Tracy is an adjunct instructor at HSBI Bielefeld University and serves on the board of Science is Elementary. She leads the LeiLyn Group, guiding businesses, educational institutions, and nonprofits through innovative programs.
